Sunny For You- SU only card

Hi guys! I am in a super big hurry today but I wanted to show you a really simple but sweet little card. This is a perfect sketch for those times you just don't have any time but you need a cute card. It could be tailored to the occasion very easily just by changing the image and sentiment. Take a look:
Isn't that cute? And it was so easy to make. I started by embossing the front of a Poppy Parade card base with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I rounded the corners on just the bottom 2 edges. Next, I trimmed a rounded piece of Sunny Garden DSP with a piece of Pear Pizzazz CS. These were placed along the top of the card, centered in the middle. A quick wrap with a length of Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding and we are almost done.

My image here is from the new SAB set called Punch Bunch. You can earn this set for FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale A Bration. Can't get any better than free, right? This set has 5 adorable, all occasion images that all coordinate with SU punches making them all easy to use in a hurry. No cutting needed! If you don't love to trim freehand, this is a set for you. Instead of just using the whole image, I punched a 1 3/4" Scalloped Circle from Peach Parfait CS, which is the same as the outer edge of my image. I used Markers to color the image and then punched out the middle using the 1 1/4" circle punch. Breathing with your mouth open over the colored image will moisten the ink so you get a crisper image.

I added 2 snipped seam binding tails behind the image for a little texture and balance. The finishing touch is 2 Whisper White Designer buttons that have been stitched with a little yellow pearl cotton which you can find in the needlework section of any craft store. Here I used DMC #6132 which coordinates beautifully with Daffodil Delight.

A Little Bit of Spring

Hey folks! I have a card for you today. It is one of those kind that you make and it works out just as you planned it and you love it when it's finished. It just makes me happy. Wanna see it?

And then I wasn't sick of those funny monkeys yet so I decided to decorate the envelope too...

Do you remember that I didn't like the Changito monkeys at first? Well, I guess I got over it! These monkeys today are from the Changito Spring set by Stampendous. There are tons of adorable images in this set. That little frog just makes me laugh.

I colored with Copics and accented with a little bit of Ranger Glossy Accents. You might notice that I got a little bit of feathering on the envelope images. The card image is stamped on SU Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black. The card interior is GA Pacific White. Both of those yielded great results. However, Office Depot store brand invitation envelopes leave a little to be desired for stamping.

Wow, Is She Ever Coming Back?

Hi guys! Did you think I left and never came back? Can you ever forgive me? I have been so busy getting my new Stampin' Up! business off the ground that I just haven't had time for my "therapy" cards. Ya know...the cards that I make for my much needed relaxation therapy. Haha! Anywho, I stopped by today with an Easter card I made a while back. It is listed in my Etsy shop as well. Wanna see?

As you may know if you stop by here more than once, I ADORE the Sugarplum images. Emma with her little basket is just too precious so she was my first choice for cute Easter cards this year. She is accented by the new Basic Grey line called Kioshi. I have to admit that the whole collection of papers did nothing for me when I saw it in a magazine weeks ago. When i saw it in my local Archiver's, I almost didn't recognize it! The colors are so much prettier in person. I think it is hard to get a feel for the scale of the patterns when you see it in an ad too. Anyway, I like how they work here. Emma is printed on a pale taupe card stock from Hobby Lobby. Stark white just didn't give me the right feel with that Basic Grey.

I have to run for now. I am judging a math tournament for my son's math club tonight so I have some things to get done before the start of Spring Break Friday morning. Oy! It is here already! A Little Love for Mom

Mother's Day will be here before you know it so I decided today was a perfect day to show you a new Mother's Day card I made. My stamp choice was made for me when I went to my mailbox yesterday and my Verve order had arrived. Yay! After seeing all the gorgeous cards made with their new spring release sets, I had to have them for myself so I ordered Miracles Blossom and Floral Symphony. I am sure you will be seeing me use both A LOT in the near future.

It was hard to pick which image to use but I finally narrowed it down to a couple from Miracles Blossom. I paired them with some of my favorite SU colors for a cute little 4.25inch square card. This size is so much fun and they use a lot less paper. So, here it is...

It is a relatively simple card. I felt like the image was lovely enough to speak for itself. I left my images uncolored since I stamped them in color but I learned last night, while playing with my new stuff, that these images are great for coloring too. I stamped a whole page of different stem and blossom combos and colored them with all different markers. What the heck, Grey's Anatomy was a repeat!

The sentiment is from Stampendous. I embossed it because the plain white ink wasn't prominent enough. The pearls were white but I colored them with a Copic marker to make them coordinate a little better. I felt like it needed some pink at the top anyway. New Toys!

Hello! I have tons of new stuff to show you. I got several new things to play with and I used a few on today's card. For the rest, I will try to use them soon so I can show them to you. New stamps, new papers, and even some tools and ink thrown in for good measure. Today's card uses a stamp set that is available as of today from Stampin Up. It is Wagon Full of Fun and it is available in the Occasions Mini catalog from April 1st until June 30th so don't miss out. Contact your SU demonstrator to order. If you don't have a demonstrator of your own, I would be glad to tell you how to find one.

So, about the card... I used some paper that would not typically be among my stash. I saw it in my LSS last week and decided it was fresh and funky and I needed it. I didn't like the coordinates in the collection so I brought it home as an orphan. Since I had such a good time trying new combos last week, I looked through my paper drawers for something that I would not normally put with my new find and Voy-Ola (:D), I found a match! Let me show the end result before I go any further.
The edges of my sentiment and stamped image are inked with distress ink after chalking the whole surface with ivory blending chalk (to make it match the printed paper background better.) I printed the message on my computer although the stamp set has some really cute sentiments included. I colored the flower with my Copics and one SU marker. I used my new Nestabilities Labels #1 template to cut the image panel and border.

Today's card is a quick card and my post will be quick too. We are off for a day with the kids so I need to run but I wanted to show you this card first. It is a simple one that I made for my kids to give to their little friends with some goodies. Here it is...

I used my new Fiskars apron lace edge punch. I love it! The brads, which my hubby called "rabbit rivets" as in "I like the rabbit rivets!", are by Making Memories. Eggstra! Eggstra! Read All About It!

If I don't get the Corniest Blogger Award, who does? I mean, really? My hubby may take away my blog license if I'm not careful. Corny or not though, I have a card to show you and it's an Easter one. I had to hurry and snap a few pictures in between rain drops. We are getting another few days of rain! I can't complain though because GA is in a terrible drought and we have strict water restrictions. Maybe this rainy winter and spring will help us a little this summer when the mercury hits 100 degrees.

Enough about the weather...you came to see a card. You're in luck because I actually have one to show you! Like I said, it's an Easter card. I CASEd myself because I was in a hurry last night and I was fresh out of ideas. I made the original so long ago though, it may even be a copy of a design I saw somewhere on the web. I keep an idea journal and before I blogged, I didn't always put a name with the sketch. My own ideas and ideas I saw elsewhere got written down all together so I hope I am not claiming this one unfairly. Speak up if this sketch is your idea. I will gladly give you credit. Anywho, about the card...

The papers are Doodlebug from a few seasons ago. DB used to be one of my favorites and then they went a little off the beaten path with their products (IMO). No one needs coarse, sandy glitter on every sheet in a collection. "Sugar coating" is an understatement. I find their glitter to be way too rough and it comes off the paper just about EVERYWHERE. That being said, I still think their graphics are adorable and their older stuff is among my stash as the "hoarded favorite stuff."

My egg image is a Stampabilities (Hobby Lobby) wood stamp that I have had since Methusela got her hair done for prom. I love to color those stripes though! It is stamped on Gina K Pure Luxury. My sentiment was printed on my computer since I don't own any corny stamps such as this. ;) For the rest of my goodies, I made my list below. Birdie Birdie

Hello again! I hope your weekend was wonderful. Ours was fantastic. I got lots of stamping done and then on Sunday, it snowed here. My kids had a ball and so did their mom and dad. We just don't get much of the white stuff around here. So now, I am ready for a little spring time stuff again. Today's card uses a cute little bird image and some papers that I have been hoarding for way too long. I kept it simple because I wanted to feature the cute stamp. I found this sketch in my idea book but I didn't write down a name with it and now I find that there is no watermark identifying it either. I vaguely remember seeing several cards using this lovely sketch so maybe it was a challenge????? If you know its origin, please give me a shout so I can give credit where it is due. OK?

There are no big technique surprises here. I paper pierced the border of the circle and the bird's "voice" is enhanced with a clear Sakura Jelly Roll pen. It is kinda hard to tell from my photo though. I have the supply list below. Who could have known how ironic my card and title would be for today since my corner of the Sunny South is getting freezing rain and snow right now. We might be lucky to get a little snow once a year and it looks like it is going to be today. Well, we can just use our imaginations because spring will be here before we know it. I guess this means that March is in like a lion, huh?

So today's card is a tribute to that glorious season...SPRING! I used the Martha Stewart Playful Pinks 12x12 pad. All the papers are so bright and fresh and I love how they coordinate beautifully. I want the blue and yellow one next. For stamps I used the SU Hostess set, Darling Dots. I love this set! I have not earned it for myself yet so I borrowed my friend's ( an SU demo) set. For my first big order, which will be here tomorrow, YAY!, I chose the Pattern Pack II. I can't wait to play with my new goodies. Tune in next week because I will have lots of new creations using my new stamps and papers.

I think this sketch works well with stamp sets that have several small images that you love all in one set. Sometimes I struggle to find a way to include those types of images all in one card. Ya know, when they look good together but singly they are kinda blah?

Spring is in the Air

Hello! Hope your weekend is shaping up to be fabulous! Mine will be busy, as usual, but that's pretty normal around here. Before I head out for the day, I want to share a card with you. I have spring on the brain. I am ready for the warm and sunshine to be here. My daffodils are blooming and I want everything to be green again. So, in honor of that wonderful time of year, here is my card for today!

I used SU's Season of Friendship for my tree and leaves but printed my own sentiment rather than use the one included with the set. For flowers, I stitched on coral colored buttons with brown MM Stitches. Sometimes a simple sketch like this is just what I want to make and I love how it looks when I am done.
