Just Because

Good Morning! I am off to a kids Christmas party and buffett at my husband's office. Since I am fond of hot breakfast, I think I will hurry here. OK? Today's card is one of those simple little all occasion greetings that is perfect to make ahead and have on hand. I made it a while back but have not showed it you yet. Take a quick look and then I will elaborate.

My papers are Basic Grey Urban Prairie (Bountiful & Bluebird) from earlier this year. I paired it with a muted yellow print that must have been from a kit. It was a single sheet with no label on it, stuffed in an old paperkeeper. My sketch is courtesy of the ever so talented Mercy Kerin (MTSC 32). The image I chose to use is an Annie LaPointe image called Chill Out. I think I picked it up in the MFT Bubble Bin. I tried my hand at distressing on this card. That technique is always a tough one for me. My results end up looking very contrived. I guess Ineed to practice more!

If you have any questions about this card or any others, please feel free to email me anytime. I am going to skip a detailed supply list in the interest of time though. Have a great weekend!

Wouldya Just Chill Out?

First, lemmee just say that I am LOVING the Bubble Bin at MFT lately. The lovely ladies at My Favorite Things have decided that we need a discount on certain items so every Monday, they have marked down a few of their fabulous products for a week at a time. Some will go back to the regular price and some will be gone forever. The fun is not knowing! I have ordered from them in the past and have always been happy with my service and products but getting their great stamps at such low prices is even better. Today's card uses one of my bargains from a week or 2 ago. Luckily for you, if you don't already own "Chill Out" by Annie LaPointe, it is still available, although at the regular price. This one didn't disappear forever.

How about my card? OK...

I am very happy with how this card turned out. It was a card that I just started throwing things down on and they all worked! Usually, I plan a card on paper, with a detailed sketch, and try a bajillion types of embellishments before finding the right ones. When I opened my order from All That Scraps, and saw this October Afternoon paper, I immediately thought "bathroom tiles" so it was a no-brainer to choose a stamp with a bathtub. Luckily, I had a pile of new Bubble Bin Bargains, including this little chill out tub, in a pile on my desk, still not put away from last week. See, being a slob is ok sometimes!

I had to mix several Copics to get the right colors for my stamped image though. I discovered the hard way that blue-greens are sadly lacking in my marker collection. I sense a marker order being placed very soon. ;) My ribbon choice was "out of the box"...literally and figuratively. I knew I wanted a wide ribbon so I pulled out my large roll/wide stash and this color flopped out of the rack accidentally. I am not lying! I would not have chosen this color to match this paper in a million years but I loved how it looked with the paper and stamp so I kept it. IMO, it harmonizes beautifully, even though that color is not even used in the paper. Talk about out of my comfort zone!

I'll give you the run down for the rest of my materials below. I will be listing this card in my Etsy shop very soon so drop by for a visit if you are interested in purchasing it. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
